Recap of the boujiest Bachelorette Party in Nashville

This past weekend, me and eight of my best friends took to Nashville to celebrate my last bash before the big day (59 days away!!!)

It was such an incredible time getting to relax, let loose, and enjoy each other’s company. Nashville is also the coolest place to do so!

I had never been to Nashville, so I was excited to see what all the hype was about. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It is such a gorgeous, lively, entertaining city! I will for sure be going back sometime soon!

We arrived in Nashville around noon on Friday. We went to lunch at Monell’s, a family style, southern food galore restaurant! They have multiple locations around Nashville. This was such a fun experience, getting to try food out of our comfort zone and being seated with random people! (Side note- one thing I will have to say is everyone we met in Nash was so nice!! From Uber drivers to random people on the street, we definitely met the best!) Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of my food because the restaurant is strict about no phones (phone DOES NOT eat first here!!)

The weather was slightly chilly and we took full advantage by breaking out our fall sweaters.

After that, we went to a little bar called “GOAT” that was within walking distance. Here, we toasted a few drinks while a few of the girls went back to the house to decorate and set up! We stayed in Germantown which was also a highlight of the trip! We had a view of the Nashville skyline and were only a $7 Uber away from Broadway (aka where all the bars are!)

Now here comes the fun! We get to the house and are blown away by the beauty and glitz of it. If you know me, you know I am definitely boujee to the max! The house did not disappoint. Here are a few pictures I snapped:

My maid of honor/sister, Kirsten, went above and beyond with the decorations and personalization. We each had a cute bendy straw with our name on it, as well as personalized tattoos and koozies for the weekend.

I had a different sash for every night, as well as a tiara! #goals img_3622.png

After drinks, snacks, and games on the rooftop of our house we began getting ready for our night out. My friend Allie did my hair and I absolutely loved it!

The weather was up in the air all week on whether it would be hot or cold. So, when buying my outfit, I decided that a long-sleeved romper was the way to go. You can buy it here. The white booties I actually bought from Target clearance for $9 the day before!! Shop them here. I am glad they were such a steal because they are pretty much destroyed from our night out on Broadway ūüôā

We had to rely on self-timer for group pictures… Here are all of my girlies looking gorgeous:

That night we went to dinner at a super fun and lively Mexican restaurant, Saint Anejo for dinner. The margaritas were amazing and STRONG!

After dinner, we hit Broadway, and unfortunately, that is where the pictures for Friday night endūüėā. Needless to say, it was an amazing time.

Saturday morning we woke up to an amazing brunch spread that Kirsten prepared. She got bagels and homemade cream cheese from Proper Bagel (AMAZING- highly recommend!!!) We relaxed and rejuvenated in the hot tub, in matching hats, with our mimosas and bloody Mary’s. My bikini top is from Target, on sale for only $16! Shop it here.

Next, we got ready, had a lingerie party, and hit Broadway for day two!

My purple flare pants were definitely the biggest hit of the weekend. I’ve linked a similar pair here.¬†

This was probably my favorite afternoon, dancing along to live music, eating good food, and drinking too much at Nudies Honky Tonk, which is evidently the longest bar in Nashville! Another place we really wanted to go to but was closed for the day is Acme- good food, drinks, rooftop bar.

At 6:30 we headed to our pedal bike tour location. If you’ve never done a pedal bike tour you MUST put it on your bucket list. It is the most fun, singing, drinking, and pedaling your way through any city. Ours stopped at different bars along the route, and even a candy shop!

After the pedal bike tour we ended up at Hattie B’s, famous for her hot chicken. The pimento mac & cheese was also to die for!!!

This concludes Beks Nash Bash! I have to give a shoutout to my sister, Kirsten, for planning such a spectacular weekend and for all my friends for making me feel the most loved and celebrated! If you get the chance, go to Nashville!

As always, comment or DM me with any questions!

Wedding Countdown: Our Story + 4-month-out update

Now that we are only 4 months away from the wedding, and things will be progressing very quickly from here on out, I will be writing a blog post on the 15th of every month giving updates on how the planning is going! But first, here’s the story of

It was a hot August night of my freshman year of college, and my older sister Kirsten and I were going to a famous Clemson restaurant, Smoking Pig, for dinner. While there, I ran into one of my newly made friends, Sam Cadden, and a couple of Sam’s best friends (Holden + another girl friend). While Sam was so talkative and outgoing, Holden was the shy one in the back… But, that didn’t stop me from noticing him!

Flash forward a couple months to October, when a few of my girl friends and I went over to an older sorority sister’s apartment. While there, I noticed that same cute shy guy from a few months ago, sitting on a bar stool alone. I boldly sat down beside him and we started chatting. Little did I know we lived only 15 minutes from each other back home and shared many mutual friends! Holden kept me laughing that whole evening, and I was sad to leave. That night, I remember sitting in my dorm room searching for him on Facebook and Instagram… But, to this day we can’t remember who added whom first (he still claims it was me, I say it was him:).

The next day, I got a text from an unknown number, and low in behold, it‚Äôs Holden! He had somehow convinced Sam to get my number from an older ZTA sister (S/O Nicole). Holden and I ‚Äútexted‚ÄĚ for the next couple of¬†months until he finally got the courage to ask me on our first date: ice-skating!¬† Little did I know, that chilly December night was the start of something so special!

Our very first picture!

I remember over Christmas break my mom asked me who I was texting and I said I was ‚Äútalking‚ÄĚ to Holden (cue the millions of questions that were fired my away about him!!) We officially started dating on January 31st, 2015, and have been inseparable ever since!

Since Christmas is when things began for us, and we both love the holiday season, we thought it would be perfect to have our wedding on December 15th – exactly a year to the day after we got engaged!

‚ÄúLove is Sweet‚ÄĚ Bridal Shower

Yesterday was the best day ever! My two matrons of honor, my sisters, threw me my first bridal shower! I am laying out all the sweet details in this post!

It was a day full of candy, desserts, doughnuts, laughter, friendship, catching up, and ultimately showering me with all the kitchen supplies necessary to bake sweet treats!

Here are a few little snippets of the fun:

There was a station for everyone to drop their favorite recipe in my “Recipe Box.” I am excited to try these recipes out once I move into our new place! Right now, I am not the biggest baker/cook but I have promised myself that I will at least try to become better! We also played an “Advice for the Bride” game. This was my favorite part because I got to hear everyone’s personal best relationship/life advice. I definitely will keep their comments close to heart, as the marriages are all lasting (my grandma has been married 56 years!)

My sweet sister also made a Snachat filter for the Generation Z part of me ūüôā This was such a fun personal touch to add to the shower and I know the guests enjoyed it as well! Since doughnuts are one of my favorite treats they had to get a doughnut CAKE! It was so gorgeous and delicious. If you are in the Charlotte area, definitely check out Suarez Bakery.¬†

There was a candy bar for guests to take home a goodie bag of their favorite candies!

For my dress, I wore this gorgeous Kate Spade lace flouncy shift-dress. I absolutely love the attention to detail on it + how flattering it is! I stayed simple with gold geometric hoop earrings and nude double strap chunky heels.

I want to say such a big thank you to my sisters, Elisabeth and Katie for hosting,  and all my friends and family who came to shower me with all the love and gifts! My future kitchen is almost already fully stocked!!

I hope you enjoyed reading about all the details of this fun event! If you have any questions or comments feel free to DM me or comment below! There is also going to be a video recap coming soon, which I am so excited about! Stay tuned for that‚ô•ÔłŹ

Part 2: Tips for Taking Engagement Photos

Our wedding is in 187 days! Ahhhh! Okay, now on to part 2 of my series Tips for Taking Engagement Pictures!

To pick-up where we left off… Once you have your photographer and location for your engagement pictures, the next thing you need to decide on is what to wear! I think it is so important to wear 1. what makes YOU feel comfortable and 2. what goes along with the theme and setting of your engagement pictures.

For example, our original idea was to take engagement pictures in the mountains; here, I would have worn something rustic/outdoorsy. However, since we decided on Charleston I knew I wanted to wear outfits that were  beachy and complemented Charleston.

In order to have fun taking pictures, which will equate to quality, genuine pictures, you need to feel good in your clothes! Whether it be something that is easy to wear or something that you know you look bomb in, always feel good.

It also important to not wear anything too crazy or distracting. Although I did choose two prints, I chose colors that would blend in well with the surrounding.

The first look I wore was this fabulous jumpsuit from Vestique. Wearing it made me feel like a million bucks. It is so flattering, HAS POCKETS, & is the softest material.

The next outfit I wore was white flare jeans (because these are always a good idea!!!!) & an adorable blue printed body suit. The flowy sleeves on the top added the nicest touch to all of our pictures. ©©©©©©

My final outfit choice was an adorable striped midi dress I borrowed from a friend. Opting to go barefoot completed this timeless beachy look!

For the first two looks, I wore the same strap-up chunky heels that gave me just the amount of height I wanted. I think simple is more when it comes to picking what shoes to wear!

Okay… Now, on to posing. I’m not gonna lie, when you first begin taking pictures it’s kind of awkward. You are unsure of what to be doing, not to mention you have crowds of people watching you!!! If you are camera shy, it may not be in your best interest to choose a booming tourist city! HA HA (Holden still hates me for that). Here’s our awkward very first picture:

When it comes to posing, just try and have fun with it, let yourself relax and follow the lead of your photographer. The camera can definitely tell when you’re faking it! Taking engagement pictures naturally requires a lot of PDA (which is not either one of our things). But, those pictures ended up turning out to be some of our favorites!

At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you enjoy the moment and create memories with your fiance! We had so much fun shooting and it definitely was a great bonding experience.

If you have any styling questions or any question at all,¬†reach out to me! I love to hear from y’all!

Engagement Photo Tips Part 1

Choosing the Location & Photographer:

This is the first post in a two-part series on taking engagement pictures!

Getting engaged is one of the most exciting moments of your life! Once he pops the question, it is your innate instinct to immediately start planning the wedding. And, with that comes taking engagement pictures!

But first – WAIT! It is so important that you don’t quickly run off to get just any friend or photographer to take your pictures. It is helpful to research, network, & find the best photographer in your price range (HINT: sometimes the most expensive photographer is NOT the best!!!) The photographer is the person who will not only be taking your engagement pics, but your bridals, your first look, & your entire wedding ceremony/ reception!

Although some people take their pictures RIGHT after they get engaged,¬† I think it is more important to wait to get the RIGHT pictures. For example, we knew we wanted our pictures in a beautiful place that meant a lot to us as a couple. We were deciding between the mountains, the beach, and the place where we met, Clemson University. We ended up deciding on Charleston because, well it’s Charleston!! No — but really, Charleston has always been one of our favorite places, is a photographer’s dream, & I knew it would be absolutely gorgeous in the spring (THINK: window boxes on every house filled with blooming flowers!!!!!!). We got engaged in December and didn’t take our engagement pictures until April (when the weather was nicer and when I had a break from school). If you have a longer engagement, this is the perfect timeline, as it still gave me plenty of time to get my save-the-dates out six months prior to the wedding.

Choosing Charleston ended up being one of the best decisions I have made in this wedding planning process. We absolutely LOVE our pictures and our photographer was amazing to work with. It helps to have a photographer who is well versed in the area where you are hoping to take pictures. For example, if you want to take engagement pictures at the Grand Canyon, I would look for a photographer who is familiar with it and who has photographed there before. Trust me, it will be a much more pleasant experience; they will know all the hidden places to get the best shot and you won’t waste any time wandering around!

If you have any questions at all about my timeline, finding a photographer, or picking a location, shoot me an email or a DM and I will be more than happy to help you out! The engagement period is supposed to be one of the happiest times in your life — it is important to not let the little things stress you out ūüôā
